Designer

Heidi Blomstedt (1911–1982) is known as a ceramic artist and belongs to an important artistic family as the daughter of the renowned composer Jean Sibelius and his wife Aino Sibelius. Blomstedt's artistic legacy continued through her marriage to architect Aulis Blomstedt and their two children, artist Juhana Blomstedt and architect Severi Blomstedt.

Heidi Blomstedt started her career at the Arabia factory and graduated from the ceramics department of the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1932, after which she worked mainly as a freelance ceramist, focusing on minimalist objects. Blomstedt's influence on Finnish ceramic art was particularly pronounced in the 1960s, when she designed tall square and rectangular ceramic objects for Kupittaan Savi Oy, reflecting her interest in geometry and simplified forms. The collaboration with Kupittaan Savi Oy produced a collection of vases and bowls in assorted colours, which were launched in 1962, bearing the artist's own HB stamp.
