Bengt Lindström

42 works by Bengt Lindström – a collection including both oil paintings and lithographs, all originating from the same collector.

Bold colour contrasts, thick layers of paint, distorted faces, and figures with strong charisma are typical characteristics of the artist Bengt Lindström. His distinctive style developed after studies in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Chicago, and Paris under the guidance of renowned artists such as Isaac Grünewald, Otte Sköld, André Lhote, and Fernand Léger. In the 1950s, he was inspired by the spontaneous and expressive painting of the Cobra group, allowing him to explore the power of colours deeply. This, together with his interest in myths and mythology, partly inspired by his childhood experience of Sami culture, shaped the Bengt Lindström we know today.
