Richly decorated with carved relief featuring double four clawed dragons surrounded by lotus scrolls above two mythological beasts in landscpaes with pines. Frames decorated with archaic patterns and dragonheads. Brass fittings with relief featuring dragons and the flaming pearl. Dimensions c. 186 x 160 cm.

Wear, damages. Restorations/reinforcements to the back.

Provenance

Allegedly from the Danish telegraphist and art collector Sophus Black (1882-1960), who served in China from 1902 to 1931 for the Great Northern Telegraph Company (Store Nordiske Telegrafselskab). Black was a respected collector who, among other things, donated items to the National Museum of Denmark.
