Rectangular, standing on four volute-shaped legs, with a pierced rim and richly decorated handles. Underneath a gift engraving: "From King Oscar II to Professor Ivar Hallström 1886". Height 6.3 cm, length (including handles) 35 cm. Weight approximately 546 g.

Wear due to age and use. Scratches.

A gift from King Oscar II of Sweden to Professor Ivar Hallström, thereafter by descent.

More information

Professor Ivar Hallström (1826-1901) was a Swedish composer and pianist. In 1861, he became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and in 1881 of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Gothenburg. For a time, from 1853, he served as librarian to the then Prince Oscar (later King Oscar II).
