Eero Johannes von Boehm (1949–2012) was the third child of Tuomas and Kirsti von Boehm (née Sihtola). He began his art studies at the University of Helsinki’s Art Room in 1968–76 under Åke Hellman, later continuing his studies at the Finnish Art Society Art School in 1969–75 with Göran Augustson as his teacher. Eero von Boehm’s first solo exhibition was held in 1977 and received a positive reception. That same year, he was awarded the Ducat Prize at an exhibition for young artists. Among Eero von Boehm’s best-known subjects are still lifes, portraits and landscapes, all of which are also extensively represented in the selection of the themed auction.
In addition to Finland, both Tuomas and Eero von Boehm have exhibited internationally, and their works are represented in collections in several countries. During their careers both artists sought knowledge and inspiration in Paris, being aware of the international currents in art. Eero von Boehm admired especially the work of Henri Matisse and other fauvists. Tuomas von Boehm made numerous trips abroad and found a place of retreat in Fuengirola, Spain, where he would spend the winter months painting. Landscape works by Tuomas von Boehm depicting Spain and Italy are included in the selection of the auction.
