Axel Törneman

Axel Törneman was one of the pioneers of Swedish Modernism and among the first Swedish artists to introduce a more international and expressive visual language. Following his studies and travels in Europe, he drew inspiration from contemporary artistic movements, particularly Symbolism and Expressionism. Törneman is known for his vibrant and emotionally charged paintings, in which urban life, people and modern environments often take centre stage.
