More information

Max Walter Svanberg föddes i Malmö 1912. Han började sin konstnärliga bana som reklammålare i Malmö, för att 1931 studera vid Skånska målarskolan och 1933 Otte Skölds målarskola. Svanberg fann under inflytande av surrealism ett starkt personligt bildspråk i exotiska färgskimrande bilder med en erotisk spänning, ofta utförda i akvarell, gouache eller tempera. Kvinnor och skönhet kom att bli hans signum. Svanberg tillhörde den surrealistiskt inriktade gruppen Imaginisterna, som bestod av fem skånemålare, och har även uppmärksammats internationellt.
