More information

Steve McCurry's "Afghan Girl, Pakistan" is one of the world's most well-known photographs since it was published on the cover of National Geographic Magazine in June 1985. The image has also become famous through Amnesty brochures and calendars. The girl with the green eyes is named Sharbat Gula, her identity remained unknown for over fifteen years until McCurry and National Geographic managed to find her in 2002. They were reunited and National Geographic published an article about her life story along with newly taken photos by Steve McCurry.
