More information

This is a mini model in bronze for the sculpture Fideicommissum - a public artwork originally created in 2000 for the Wanås Sculpture Park in Skåne, Sweden.

Fideicommissum is a bronze cast of the artist herself squatting down to urinate. The original artwork functions as a fountain and makes reference to the fountain motifs of young males urinating. Sidén conceived the idea for the sculpture in 1999 during a visit to the Wanås Sculpture Park, when she was working on a film and had to retire to the bushes to relieve herself.
The composition of the artwork has historical references; The sculpture's hair, sandals and folds of clothing are modelled on Roman, Greek and Etruscian sculptures.

Ann-Sofi Sidén, born in 1962 and based in Stockholm, works in a wide variety of media.
In her work she covers some of the most universally acute themes such as surveillance, insanity, obsession, control, vulnerability and violence. Sidén is represented in many important public collections including those of Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland and Sammlung Goetz in Munich.
