More information

Rolf Wertheimer was a Swedish artist active as a painter, photographer, draughtsman, and sculptor, but he primarily regarded painting as the core of his artistic practice. He was born in 1930 in Gothenburg and studied in Stockholm, including at Académie Libre and later at the Royal Institute of Art. There, he encountered teachers such as Lennart Rodhe and Ragnar Sandberg, which placed him in the milieu of Swedish post-war modernism, where abstraction and experimentation with colour and form were central.
