Lars Lerin is regarded as one of Scandinavias foremost watercolourists. With his skilled hand, he reinterprets the environments he discovers, from Värmland and Lofoten to Egypt and Syria. In the exhibition catalogue from Liljevalchs in 2018, the then director of the art hall, Mårten Castenfors, describes Lerin as an "anachronistic romantic". "A solitary figure who creates his own universe far removed from today's norm-critical discourses."
Lars Lerin, Swedish visual artist born in Munkfors and raised in the village of Sunnemo in northern Värmland. He studied at Gerlesborgsskolan from 1974 to 1975 and at Valands konsthögskola in Gothenburg from 1980 to 1984. He is best known for his illustrations from his travels around the world. Considered the Nordic region's foremost watercolour painter, he has exhibited all over the world.
