Circa 1940. A lion yellow ground with polychrome flower vases as well as large flower and palmette festoons, some with a wreath of animal heads. A blue main border with animals as well as a flower, palmette and arabesque vine.

'Vase' carpets were made during the Safavid period (1501-1736) in Persia (Iran) and are characterised by large palmette and floral vines emerging from vases.
