More information

Guy Lioult is an animal sculptor with roots in Normandy. His work explores animal form and anatomy, seeking to reveal the intricate structures concealed beneath the surface of the skin. He brings out the body’s inner contours, the interplay of planes and volumes, and the lines and folds that give each creature its distinctive physical architecture.

His practice is grounded in close and sensitive observation of both wild and familiar animals. His rich bestiary of bronze sculptures includes tapirs, marabou storks, secretary birds and meerkats – subjects that evoke memories of his time in French Guiana as well as sketches made while studying animal life at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris.
