When Cobra was introduced in 1968, it was one of the first lamps to be produced in cast resin, using a highly advanced manufacturing process for its time. Cobra consists of a two-part spherical form, comprising a shade and a base, seamlessly joined by an articulated joint that can be rotated through 360°.
Originally, the lamp was produced in white and black, but in 2018 it was relaunched in a bright red colour bearing Martinelli’s signature to celebrate Cobra’s 50th anniversary. The design was inspired by the shape and movement of a cobra: first it dances hypnotically to the music before extending itself to attack.
