"In his opening speech for Ulrik Samuelson’s exhibition, Olle Granath uses a striking metaphor: ‘There we stand on the narrow strip that is not nature,’ he says, referring to the intricate balancing act we, as human beings, must perform in order to remain within the narrative and language. This state of equilibrium—staying alive while simultaneously enjoying the shifts between extremes, between glittering gold and the deepest black—is something of a credo for Ulrik Samuelson. He is the seducer with the tomb guardian Anubis looking over his shoulder."
