Martin Wickström’s art occupies the intersection between past and present, the private and the collective. With an approach that in many ways is connected to photography or film - through his tight crops and the frequent combinations of close-up and wide-angle views - he succeeds in conveying the entire scene in his still images. He bases his paintings on documentary photographs, a personal archive of collected images, everyday objects, digital experiments and emotional memories. He reveals the beauty in the architecture and forms of everyday life.
