Mahogany-veneered writing bureau, interior drawers in hardwood. Brass details. Folding flap with drawer and shelving interior behind it. The flap is leather-covered. The lower section has three drawers. At the top, a stone surface. Width 97 cm, depth 36 cm, total height 197,5 cm. Dimensions of the writing surface when opened: width 72 cm, depth 54 cm. Wear due to age and use. Cracks due to dryness of the material. The lowest decorative moulding on the front is slightly detached on one side. Wear on the leather upholstery. Keys included.
From the collection of Ambassador Osmo Lares (1926-2025)
Osmo Lares was a distinguished Finnish diplomat who devoted his career to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His early postings took him to Prague (1956–1959), Cologne (1960–1964), and Paris (1966–1969). He subsequently served as Ambassador to Tokyo – with side accreditation to Seoul – from 1972 to 1978, followed by appointments to Canberra (1983–1987), The Hague (1987–1989), and Dublin (1989–1991).
