Challenge cup. Gilt interior. On three ball feet, with a spherical thumbpiece. The underside engraved with the inscription “Turun Kauppaseuran À La Guerre kilpailu – Handelsgillets i Åbo À La Guerre tävlan”, together with the donor’s and winners’ names, dated between 16/3 1935 and 25/1 1941.

Height 18.5 cm. Weight approx. 832 g.

Tarnished. Minor wear.

Provenance

Klaus Törnudd (Helsinki 1931-1926).
The diplomat and scholar Klaus Törnudd worked both for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and at the Universities of Tampere and Helsinki. Between 1961 and 1996, he and his wife Mirja Siirala-Törnudd were posted abroad in New York (1961–64), Cairo (1964–66), Moscow (1971–73), Geneva (1973–74), New York (1988–91) and Paris (1993–96).
