Sale of the Decade! An important silver collection at Bukowskis

Selected pieces from a highly important silver collection – collected by Economy Dr. Peter Wallenberg.

Peter Wallenberg, who died in 2015, was very fond of early English and Swedish silver and the collection he put together throughout his life became one of, if not, the most important silver collector in Sweden of our time.

The collecting of silver was his private hobby and not many people knew about it. His interest started in London already in the 60’s where he bought several important English pieces. When he came back to Sweden in the 70’s he was a frequent guest at the Fine Art Auctions in Stockholm and the collection grew rapidly. In the 80’s his interest widen and turned towards the Swedish 17th and 18th century mainly.

The best of the best was his approach and if it was possible he aimed to find three similar objects of the same kind – one for each of his children. Something that, with time, got more difficult to follow as he went for more unique pieces.

In the end his collection contained of as many as 300 important silver objects and 60 of those we are proud to be auctioning at Bukowskis Important Spring Sale on the 7th of June 2017.
