Success for the auction The value of Art – A contemporary collection

Success for the autumn's first anniversary-auction

The season's first and long-awaited auction "The value of Art – A contemporary collection" began with Albert Watson's iconic image of supermodel Naomi Campbell, followed by intense bidding on international and Swedish contemporary art as well as bold design and work of art. After the well-attended viewing, a much-appreciated auction followed. The huge interest shows that the demand for high-quality art and design remains strong at the Nordic region's leading auction house.

The highlights of the evening were Frank Stella, Bernar Venet, Sean Henry, Eva Hild and Bigert & Bergström, whose sculptures attracted bidders from all over the world. The sculptures from these artists resulted in the evening's highest final prices.

– It is satisfying to see the lively bidding in the salesroom, online as well as on the phone. It shows the great demand for contemporary art. We are incredibly grateful for the great trust we have received in conveying this exciting and personal collection, says Lena Rydén, Specialist Modern art.

Additional highlights from the auction that sold high above estimate include works by Copper & Gorfer, Julian Opie, Karin Broos and Astrid Kruse Jensen to name a few of the collection's many highlights.

During the spring and summer, Bukowskis has achieved fantastic sales results, with the most lots exceeding SEK 1 million as well as the most expensive work sold on the market. We are proud and grateful for the trust received from our customers.

For the upcoming anniversary-auctions, we can already present well-known and sought-after works such as Girl with balloon by street artist Banksy, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn (Woman with roses on her arm) by Irving Penn, Teater av Sigrid Hjertén, and Valsen by Anders Zorn to name a few.

Consignments are underway for all anniversary-auctions – sell at the market's highest prices, feel free to contact our specialists today. Read more about Contemporary Art & Design, Important Timepieces, Modern Art + Design och Important Winter Sale to see what our customers are looking for.
