We have spoken with Carl Palmegren, Head Specialist Watches, who talks about the selection at this spring's Important Timepieces. He also takes the opportunity to list some of his favourite objects among the substantial selection in this spring's auction.

What can we look forward to in this spring's Important Timepices auction?

– The auction will offer a great selection of Rolex divers' watches, including a Double Red Sea-Dweller reference 1665, consigned by the original owner original who bought the watch in Stockholm in September 1977. Other highlights include a Patek Philippe Nautilus in 18K gold. A first generation Omega Railmaster with “Broad Arrow Hands”. A very rare Enicar chronograph with interesting provenance from the salvation of the Swedish warship Vasa. Two Longines flyback-chronographs in steel from 1939 and 1949. And a wide variety of Patek Philippe Calatrava and Ellipse watches

When is the viewing and auction?

Breitling, Navitimer, chronograph "AOPA All Black", "Kronometer Stockholm"

The iconic Navitimer from Breitling was introduced to the market as early as 1952. The model was developed in collaboration with the US Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) to be used as a working tool for pilots. It became the organization's official watch, and their AOPA logo can be seen on the dial during the first years the watch was in production. The watch also became popular civilly and was worn in the 60s by, among others, Miles Davis, Jim Clark, Graham Hill, and Jo Siffert. The auction's number 26 belongs to the early generation with the AOPA logo on the dial and a so-called "All Black" dial with radium lume. Furthermore, it is double signed with "Kronometer Stockholm" which at this time was an agent for Breitling in Sweden.

Longines kronograf "Monopusher", "F. Woroniecki Warszawa"

The auction's oldest watch is a Longines chronograph from 1931. The movement is a 13.33Z calibre which is one of the first chronograph movements developed for a wristwatch. The chronograph function is a so-called monopusher, and the dial is double-signed "F. Woroniecki Warszawa". Ferdynand Woroniecki was a prominent watchmaker from Poland. In the 1930s, his watch shop was located on Krakowskie Przedmieście in central Warsaw. Furthermore, an archive extract from Longines is included, where it is confirmed that the watch was delivered to the agent in Poland on January 22, 1931.

Rolex, GMT-Master "Pointed Crown Guards, Fuchsia"

######Lot 37 is a Rolex GMT-Master reference 1675 from 1960 with provenance from the first Danish watchmaker to receive the title "Official Rolex watchmaker". After graduation, he celebrated that he was now an official Rolex watchmaker by buying this watch in 1968, and has worn it until today. GMT-Master was initially developed in collaboration with Pan American Airways. ("GMT" stands for Greenwich Mean Time). Reference 1675 was in production between 1959 and 1980.

Rolex, Sea-Dweller, "Double Red Mark IV

###### Rolex 1665 is the original reference of the Rolex Sea-Dweller. When the model was introduced, it was the perfect diving watch and enabled divers to use the watch at a lower depth, thanks to a specially developed helium valve. Auction number 61 has been with the current owner since it was new in 1977 and has been on his wrist for many diving adventures worldwide. During the first years of production of the Rolex Sea-Dweller, the text "Sea-Dweller" and "Submariner 2000" are written in red on the dial. Hence these models have been nicknamed "Double Red" and are highly collectable by collectors worldwide.

Enicar Sherpa Graph, kronograf, "Mark 1a"

######Lot 89 is a very rare Enicar Sherpa Graph "Mark 1". The watch was introduced in 1960 and it was developed for racing. To help marketing the model, Enicar had the Formula 1 star, Stirling Moss. The so-called "Mark 1" watch can be seen together with the F1 driver in the campaigns. These "Mark 1" appear extremely rarely at auction and stand out with their distinctive “gladius hands” without radium lume inside the hands. Furthermore, the watch has an exciting provenance from Sven Bengtsson, who was a curator at the Maritime History Museum. He was involved when warship Wasa was salvaged in 1961.
