###**The very best within Finnish design** ###Design Sale Helsinki
#####**We are excited to unveil some of the highlights of our upcoming [Design Sale Helsinki](/auctions/F257/home) auction.** The auction presents an impressive array of design objects by leading designers. Highlights include a colourful selection of ceramics by Birger Kaipiainen, sought-after furniture by Alvar Aalto, a selection of timeless lightings by Paavo Tynell and beautiful silver objects byTapio Wirkkala.

This season’s design auction has a fantastic range and presents everything from custom-made design rarities and sought-after collector’s objects to modern design classics. I would especially like to highlight Alvar Aalto’s rare High Back chairs. There are only a few of them on the market, so it’s exciting to present, not just one, but two of them at our upcoming auction.

Sought-after ceramic plates by Birger Kaipiainen

Birger Kaipiainen was a ceramic artist with a very special design language and he is particularly well known for his decorative art ceramics. He began his career at the Arabia Art Department in 1937 and quickly found his own way to make art. This season’s Design Sale Helsinki presents a wide selection of unique ceramic plates by Kaipiainen, everything from smaller decorative plates to impressive reliefs.

Beautiful lightning by Paavo Tynell

Two rare high back chairs by Alvar Aalto

Alvar Aalto is one of Finland's most prominent architects and designers and several of the objects he designed are today considered iconic design classics. We are pleased to present two extremely rare high back chairs at this season’s Design Sale Helsinki. The production of the chair only lasted for a few years and therefore only few examples are known.

Silver objects by Tapio Wirkkala

Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) rose to world fame in the early 1950s following the breakthrough of Finnish industrial design. He was an exceptionally prolific artist who mastered almost any material and designed both everyday objects and unique works of art. We are happy to present a beautiful selection of Wirkkala's silver objects, which are sought-after by both Finnish and international, at this season's Design Sale Helsinki.

Playful glass objects Kaj Franck

Among the auction’s highlights you will also find a selection of rare glass objects by Kaj Franck. Franck was a timeless functionalist who often experimented with playful elements and geometric forms.

All the objects in the pictures will be sold at Design Sale Helsinki, October 19-30.
