Specialists choice Eva Seeman

We have spoken with Eva Seeman, Chief Specialist Modern and Contemporary Decorative art and design, who talks about the selection at this autumn's Modern Art + Design. Georg Jensen, Silver jardinière

The silver department contains quite a few interesting objects, some rare and spectacular items from Georg Jensen. I choose to pinpoint the jardinière that was ordered by a Stockholm family around the year 1915. A very unusual model and an elegant piece of splendour.

Lars Håkansson, Silver sterling coffeepot, Lund 1982

Bukowskis has the pleasure of selling the extensive collection of Lars Wetterling, a collection brought together with a lot of care and love for art and works of art. The collection is sold in three parts, one was sold at Contemporary Art + Design, one will be sold here at the Modern Art + Design auction, and the final part will be sold on a Theme-auction at our online auctions. I have chosen to point to one of the exquisite objects of silver and gold that Lars Wetterling collected and it is Lars Håkansson's beautiful jug, and it may represent the collection.

Uno Åhrén & Anna Petrus, Mirror, Firma Svenskt Tenn, model 516

Over the years, Bukowskis has become the place where collections are sold. In addition to Lars Wetterling's collection, we have Hildur Hansson's fantastic Swedish Pewter objects and furniture collection. Hildur Hansson's interest in Svenskt Tenn arose from her friend Estrid Ericsson, the founder of The Svenskt Tenn. The collection contains furniture and objects from the first part of the 20th Century and up to the 1980s. The interest never weakened and was later taken over by the son Ingemar. Estrid Ericson was an extremely creative and resourceful person, always curious about creating new objects for the always very inspiring store Svenskt Tenn. Something that is clearly shown in the collection of Hildur Hansson. The most extraordinary object in Hildur Hansson's collection is the mirror, a collaboration between Uno Åhrén and Anna Petrus, designed around 1927. The model was first designed by the two as a type of radiator grit and was exhibited at several international exhibitions, for instance, at Metropolitan Museum in New York in 1927. Reportedly Estrid Ericson intended to use this particular piece as a gate at her summer house, "Tolvekarna”, but had second thoughts and had it installed together with a mirror that later ended up in Hildur Hansson's home.

Ingegerd Torhamn, Modernist painted and decorated chest of drawers, ca 1930

Another extraordinary object is the chest of drawers decorated by the modernist artist Ingegerd Torhamn from around 1930. Today she is probably most known for the modernist carpets that were made for and exhibited at the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition.

Harald Notini, Ceiling lamp, 'model 11555' Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, 1940-tal.

This auction also includes a tempting and very full collection of pieces from the Böhlmark's lamp factory. A varied selection with many of the company's different models produced from the 1920s to the 1960s.
