Dillberg Collection - Modernist masterpieces from the Dillberg family collections

Postmaster Yngve Dillberg (1885-1972) and his wife Martha were good friends with several members of the Halmstad Group, particularly with Erik Olson. This is evident in many letters written between 1927-1945 where Erik talks about the progress of his artistic work, his travels, and his financial troubles. The letters reveal that Yngve sent money to Erik on several occasions and, as a thank you, sometimes received artworks. Yngve also sold works by the members of the Halmstad Group to his friends and acquaintances, which is also evident in the letters.

Yngve and Martha's son, Stig Dillberg, and his wife Kerstin were also good friends with the members of the Halmstad Group and bought and received several works from the artists. Stig himself also painted and sculpted actively. Together with Erik Olson's daughter, Viveka Bosson, Stig and Kerstin helped to realize Viveka's dream of a museum for the Halmstad Group. The couple were very involved in the establishment of Mjällby konstgård, which was founded in 1980 and Stig designed the first renovation of the museum.

› Eric Olson, ”Skördemaskin”, estimate 400 000 - 500 000 SEK.

Kerstin Dillberg's father, Erik Sköld, was an artist and conservator and took part in the artistic circles in Halmstad together with the Halmstad Group. They exhibited together and had opening parties at Erik Sköld and his wife Ingeborg's home. Sköld studied art for Carl Ryd and Tor Bjurström at Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg from 1919-1921 and at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in 1922. He then worked as a decorative and easel painter in Gothenburg until 1926, before undergoing conservation training for Alfred Nilsson in Stockholm from 1927-1929. After his training, he specialized in the conservation of older ecclesiastical and profane art.

Bukowskis have been trusted to present this fantastic collection with provenance from the Dillberg and Sköld families. The works in the collection have never been sold before.
