Design Sale Helsinki – Strong market for art and design

Design Sale Helsinki – sought-after design objects attracted collectors and design enthusiasts from nearly 30 countries

Unique items with fascinating histories and provenance sparked significant interest. The auction's highlight was a vase from Alvar Aalto's private collection, which sold for a final price of 29 000 EUR. Furthermore, an impressive final price was achieved for a Michael Schilkin bar cabinet, originating from the collection of the art dealer Leonard Bäcksbacka, which sold for 10 300 EUR.

The ceramics department, led by designers such as Birger Kaipiainen and Rut Bryk, also garnered considerable attention and achieved high final prices. All of Birger Kaipiainen's pieces exceeded their initial estimates, with the most valuable lot in this category being a decorative Kaipiainen dish, which tripled its estimate and sold for a final price of 23 300 EUR.

Additional top results were achieved for an Alvar Aalto V63 stool, which sold for 12 100 EUR, a Poul Henningsen PH-4/4 ceiling lamp that reached a final price of 17 800 EUR, and a "Ciria" necklace by Björn Weckström that sold for 9 600 EUR.
