The Market for Exclusive Watches

Throughout 2025, interest in exclusive watches remained strong. The market increasingly favoured quality, provenance and particularly sought-after references. Bukowskis held a total of 14 watch auctions—12 Curated Timepieces and two Important Timepieces—delivering market-leading results. The autumn Important Timepieces auction became the largest watch auction of the year in the Nordic region.

The 2025 Market – Clear Signs of Strength in the Right Segments
After several years of adjustment and increased selectivity, the fine wristwatch market showed clear signs of strength towards the end of 2025. Data compiled by WatchCharts and Morgan Stanley show that prices for pre-owned watches rose during the fourth quarter of 2025, while 21 of the 35 monitored brands recorded price increases during the same period.

The most evident trend in 2025 was that the market rewarded the right objects. This is not a market where everything rises or falls in unison; instead, demand is largely determined by the individual watch’s condition, provenance and reference.

Bukowskis 2025 – Strong Results in a Selective Market
2025 was a strong year for Bukowskis’ watch department. During the year, Bukowskis accounted for seven of the ten most expensive watches sold at Swedish fine art auctions, underlining its strong market position and the significant interest from both Swedish and international collectors.

The latest edition of Important Timepieces achieved total sales of 14 million SEK, reaching 120 per cent of the estimate, with an average price of approximately 120 000 SEK and a sell-through rate of 96 per cent.

What Collectors Are Looking for Right Now
In a more selective market, several recurring quality factors often play a decisive role in bidding:

–Full set (box, certificate, receipts, accessories)
–Clear provenance and transparent history
–Excellent condition and correct execution (dial/hands/bezels, correct bracelet)
–Particularly sought-after references and configurations

Looking Ahead
There is much to suggest that 2026 will continue along the same path: a more mature and selective market, but with continued strong demand for the right objects. When quality is high, the buyer side remains very active.
