This year marks 150 years since Carl Milles was born, which Bukowskis is celebrating with a special anniversary section at the upcoming live auction – Important Spring Sale.

Carl Milles was one of the most significant sculptors of the first half of the 20th century, receiving several major, prestigious public commissions both in Sweden and internationally. These monumental works left their mark on many cities that were modernised and developed during this period.

The subjects of Milles' sculptures are often classical, drawing from antiquity and Swedish history, yet his interpretation was both modern and innovative. He brought heavy materials like stone and bronze to life, creating a sense of air and movement. By placing his sculptures on high plinths and bases, he created a stage, often enhancing the effect with dramatic electric lighting.
