Important Winter Sale Presents Lars Broberg’s Collection of Antiques and Works of Art
Lars Broberg 1939–2025
Legendary Antique Dealer and Collector for More Than 50 Years
Bukowskis is proud to present the second part of Lars Broberg’s collection of antiques and works of art, with a third part of the collection to be offered at auction in January. With a career as an antiques dealer that began already in the 1960s, the collection reflects more than half a century of devoted pursuit of the rare and the precious. The selection highlights two focal points: on the one hand, the finest and most high-quality pieces in the collection, and on the other, the breadth and taste that characterised Lars Broberg’s work in general and his life-long activity as a collector in particular.
Among the most exceptional pieces is a limestone tabletop with a wedding monogram from the Nordic Renaissance. It is of the same type as the tops of the two tables at Sjögården at Skokloster Castle, as well as the near-legendary stone table sold at Karl XV’s Ulriksdal auction. The silver section features an unusual kåsa from the same period, possibly made in Uleåborg in present-day Finland. Further highlights include the Baroque table with its original leather-covered top, and the high-quality Rococo sofa by Alexander Thunberg — a piece of exceptionally refined furniture art crafted by one of Sweden’s foremost master chairmakers.
