Modellen formgiven 1933-34 och producerades 1935-40. Ursprungligen var tanken att modellen skulle passa speciellt bra i tropikerna då en stol utan stoppning var speciellt praktisk med tanke på insekter. Produktionen av stolen, som utfördes i ett enda stycke formpressad plywood, blev dyrbar och enligt uppgift i känd litteratur tillverkades endast 120 exemplar. Alvar Aaltos böjträmöbler hade redan tidigare kommit ut i produktion till en lägre kostnad och konkurrensen från Finland blev för stark.
