Liljefors most famous paintings of white-tailed eagles as the main subject is "white-tailed eagles
and loons," from 1897 (National Museum) and "White-tailed eagle and hare", from 1904 (Thielska Galleriet, Stockholm).
Dr. Karl Asplund, President of AB Bukowskis Konsthandel (AB Bukowskis Art Trade) between 1929-1953, was good friend with Liljefors and they hunted often together. Asplund was the model for Liljefors painting "På rävpass" from 1931, which Liljefors based on photographs of Asplund, taken during a hunt (M. Hill. Bruno Liljefors. The Peerles Eye, 1987, p. 150, depicting on the photographs). Another drawing of a white-tailed eagle is in the National Museum (NMH 339/1941; 87 x 148 mm .; op. Cit., P, 31, illustrated).
