Oblong folio [37 by 49,5 cm]. With 354 (including the plate of the Swedish Church in London) mostly double-page engraved plates (some folding or multi-folding) including title-pages, portraits, maps, and more than 300 city views and views of castles, palaces, gardens, etc. With printed index, 14 pp., at end of volume three.

Late eighteenth century mottled calf, richly gilt, rocaille style gilt borders on covers, spine gilt, all edges gilt. Margins of plates extended. Complete with the extra engraved plate of the Swedish Curch at London.
With the gilt coat of arms and monogram of King Gustav III [1746-92] on both covers. (Sjögren, p. 143 & 153).
Possibly bound by Christopher Schneidler [1746-1787, binder to the Court.

First edition of this famous Swedish topographical work, with engravings by Adam and Nicolas Perelle, Jean Marot, Jean le Pautre, Dionysius Padt Brugge, Willem Swidde, Johan van den Avelen and others, after drawigs by Erik Dahlbergh.
