Oscar Murillos storskaliga målningar framställs i en anda av performance, rörelse och kaos, samtidigt som konstnären har full kontroll över komposition och uttryck. Hans verk relaterar ofta, på ett eller annat sätt, till hans eget liv. Storstaden London, där han lever och verkar, och Colombia där han föddes 1986. Målningarna utförs på grova hopsydda dukar där färgen kombineras med textfragment samt smuts och damm från ateljén. Murillo har beskrivit sitt arbetssätt och sitt fria förhållningssätt till dukarna på följande sätt:
“Things get moved around, I step on them, and they get contaminated. It’s not about leaving traces; it’s about letting things mature on their own -like aging cheese or letting a stew cook, they get more flavorful. That’s kind of how these paintings are made.”

2012 tog Murillo examen från The Royal College of Art i London och året efter knöts han till välrenommerade David Zwirner Gallery. Murillo har redan haft flera separatutställningar på viktiga institutioner, 2015 ställde han bland annat ut på Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá samt på Centro Cultural Daoíz y Velarde i Madrid och Artpace i Texas.
