Birger Kaipiainen was employed in 1937 at Arabia's art department. Inspiration was obtained primarily from nature, but also (as here) from ancient Byzantine art and the Renaissance. In 1954, Kaipiainen moved to Sweden and during the years 1954-58 he worked for Rörstrand.
Via Rörstrand he was given an opportunity to exhibit in New York in 1955.
Later, when he returned to Finland, Kaipiainen resumed his artistic work at the Arabia workshops.
