More information

Jan Tarasin debuterade år 1948 som student vid Krakowakademin när han deltog i den första utställningen av modern konst i Kraków. Hans tidiga produktion från omkring 1950 består av stilleben utförda i en realistisk stil. På 1960-talet förändrades Tarasins måleri åt det mer abstrakta hållet, vändpunkten sammanföll med en stipendieresa till Asien år 1962 där han bland annat besökte Hanoi och Peking. Målningarna blev vid denna tid nästintill skulpturala och tredimensionella och Tarasin utforskade olika material och collagetekniker för att skapa en levande yta på duken. Under hela sitt liv fortsatte han att undersöka betydelsen av symboler och tecken i sitt skapande och varje målning bär på sin egen historia.

I mitten av 1960-talet representerades Jan Tarasin av Konstsalongen Kavaletten i Uppsala och det aktuella katalognumret ”PRZEDMIOTY VII” inköpt där år 1966.
