World-class art and design – view the catalogue for Modern Art & Design

The most important auction for modern art and design this spring

The art department presents works by some of the most important artists of the 20th century. Highlights include Pablo Picasso’s Buste d’homme, Fernando Botero’s "El cuarto de baño", Georges Braque’s "As de trèfles et verre", Victor Vasarely’s "KONDOR", and Erik Olson’s "Korsfästelse (Crucifixion)".

The auction also features two private collections: one comprising works by Arne Jones, and the other containing with selected highlights from the estate of Alice and Nils Wedel. Among the standout pieces in the print department is Edvard Munch’s "The Sick Child (Det syke barn)".

The design department presents furniture, textiles, glassware, silver, and lighting by some of the 20th century’s most prominent Scandinavian and international designers, including Anna Petrus, Axel Einar Hjorth, Hans J. Wegner, Barbro Nilsson, and Harald Notini. A highlight is the Forme Libre table by the French architect and designer Charlotte Perriand, circa 1956. The auction also features a collection of lighting fixtures from one of Scandinavia’s most influential producers during the Swedish Modern era – Bröderna Malmströms Metallvarufabrik, including lights by Carl-Axel Acking.

The Carpets and Textiles Department displays several works by the prominent textile artists Märta Måås-Fjetterström and Barbro Nilsson. Highlights include the unique carpet Storkorset (Åhléns carpet). We also commemorate the platinum jubilee of Barbro Nilsson's iconic carpet 'Tånga'.

This year, the ceramics department marks a special anniversary – 200 years of Gustavsberg. Here you’ll find works by the factory’s most iconic designers, such as Lisa Larson, Stig Lindberg, Berndt Friberg, and Wilhelm Kåge.

The silver department offers a wide selection of pieces created by leading 20th-century designers such as Georg Jensen, Kay Bojesen, Wiwen Nilsson, Tapio Wirkkala, and Atelier Borgila. The auction also includes an extensive selection of jewellery by Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe, as well as silverware and jewellery by Lars Arby – two pioneering figures in Swedish jewellery design whose work has shaped generations.
