Luster-glazed ceramic, decoration of marine motifs with women in sailing ships in silver tones against a dark violet background, signed with Walter Crane's (designer of the vase) signature and William S. Mycock's monogram (decorator), stylised "Fleur de Lys", also stamped 2472 ENGLAND. Height 27 cm.

Designer

Walter Crane was a British artist and an important innovator in the field of children's book illustration. He was part of the British Arts and Crafts movement. Crane created a multitude of paintings, illustrations, children's books, tiles, wallpapers, and other innovative crafts. Crane was also involved in the international socialist movement.
