A "double" ravenna glass bowl, Orrefors 1953, no 530.

Oval with internal decoration of graduated squares in blue against red-orange, the exterior with a grey-blue layer, signed ORREFORS Sweden Ravenna No: 530. 23 x 19 cm, height 11.3 cm.

This Ravenna was showcased on the Swedish morning TV show "Godmorgon Sverige" in 1991.

Designer

Sven Palmqvist was a Swedish glass artist and designer. As a long-term employee at Orrefors glassworks, Palmqvist was the originator of several new art glass techniques. Kraka was launched in 1944 as a development of the graal glass. In 1948 came Ravenna, a combination of a colored glass plate, crushed glass and a layer of clear glass. Palmqvist had his greatest success with the bowl series Fuga.
