"To Capri, to the most wonderful of islands, the gaze is drawn. There it beckons the first moment you arrive at the Bay of Naples - there it is drawn, when you leave the region. And there shall always my thoughts swing, as soon as the word Italy is mentioned."
Thus writes Anselm Schultzberg in his "Memories of Capri," published in Ord och Bild in 1896. Schultzberg spent most of the year 1891 on the delightful island and composed a number of paintings there; coastal motifs with turquoise water, a country house with a pergola, and the painting in this auction of a woman elegantly making her way along a narrow path.
