Göran Silfverstolpe, Sweden's Sveriges Allmänna Konstförening, Publication 95, "Vera Nilsson", 1986, mentioned p. 87.
In Göran Silfverstolpe's publication about Vera Nilsson from 1986, the portrait, presented in this auction, is mentioned; "Vera made portraits of students at Maj Bring's school. Tore and Calle Carlsson, called "The artist". The portrait of Tore is typical of this time. Vera penetrates her model closely into life. The large nose and the fleshy mouth are carefully recorded, and the colour is vivid with similar reds and violets in both the face and background. The harshness that exists in the image is balanced by an obvious sense of connection with the young comrade at the art school. If Vera did not feel sympathy for the model, then there was no portrait."
