Ink on paper. A landscape with mountains. Two seals in red. With calligraphy. Signed and sealed Xi Gang (1746-1803) but later. Measure motif 30.5x107 cm. Measure hanging 51x225 cm. Scroll painting, can be rolled up.

More about Xi Gang

Xi Gang 奚岡(1746–1803) was a renowned seal carver and painter of the Qing Dynasty. Born in Qiántáng (modern-day Hangzhou), he was also known by the style name Chunzhang 纯章 and the pseudonym Tiesheng 铁生, among others includnig Hezhusheng 鹤注生 and Mengquan Waishi 蒙泉 外史. Xi Gang specialized in landscape painting and was a co-founder of the Zhe School of seal carving alongside Ding Jing. His artistic approach reflects the traditions of the Southern School. In addition to painting and seal carving, he was also skilled in prose and calligraphy.
