Provenance

From the collection of Carlo Lizzani (1922-2013), who purchased it during the production of the film Muragalia Chinese (Behind the Great Wall) in 1958. The figure was given as a gift to the present owner, a Swedish lady in 1969.

In 1957 Carlo Lizzani spent ten months of his life as a filmmaker and researcher in China, to make the first feature-length documentary film by a Western director in that nation which at the time was considered almost like a fairy-tale country by Westerners.
