A ring 18K white gold with a faceted sapphire and old-cut diamonds

Weight of the sapphire ca 5 ct, total weight of the diamonds ca 1.50 ct, size 57, weight 17.6 g. RU (Rey Urban), Stockholm 1973. Two cases with monogram engraving are included, these belonged to the two rings that were remade.

Provenance

The sapphire in the ring was reportedly a gift from Anders Zorn (1860-1920) to Magda Nachmanson (1880-1954) when she married Professor Ernst Nachmanson in 1908. Magda Nachmanson (née Geber) was the niece of the artist's wife, Emma Zorn. The sapphire then passed down to their daughter Magda Gunhild Nachmanson (1919-2007), who had Rey Urban redesign two older rings and incorporate the sapphire into the modernist ring.
