År 2007 erhöll Truls Melin Moderna Museets Vänners Skulpturpris, K.A. Linds Hederspris. I den publikation som utgavs i samband med detta skriver Ronald Jones följande om Melins konstnärskap:
"Melins konst befinner sig långt från den osjälvständiga samtidskonstens alltför eftergivna nyckfullhet, den är precis som Baudelaire sade: "barndom fångad på nytt med vilja". Detta är något som förblir en gåva på 2000-talet, precis som Melin förblir obotlig idealistisk."
