Barbarella is a French-Italian-American film from 1968. The film, directed by Roger Vadim, is based on Jean-Claude Forest's adult comic series Barbarella, which was launched in 1962. The evil scientist Durand Durand has developed a terrible weapon that can destroy the universe. The President of Earth sends for Barbarella, played by Jane Fonda, to solve the problem. She travels in her spaceship, which is upholstered in wool, to Planet 16, where she is captured by a gang of children. The film's villain Durand Durand inspired the name of the famous rock band Duran Duran.
