Starkt influerad av stildrag från Art Nouveau och med psykedelians smältande typografi satte Wes Wilson en omisskännlig prägel på det sena sextiotalets estetik. Med angränsande komplementfärger och expansiva kompositioner blir hans arbeten till ett slags populärkulturens motsvarighet till den äldre konsthistoriens horror vacui. Inte minst blir detta tydligt genom skivomslag, eller, som i auktionens konsertaffischer, promotionmaterial för Bill Grahams olika arrangemang på bland annat San Franciscos Fillmore Auditorium - där band som The Velvet Underground, Doors och Jimi Hendrix Experience spelade. Eller, the Grateful Dead, som mellan åren 1965 -1969 gjorde över femtio spelningar på klubben. Hans inflytande påverkade samtida konstnärer som exempelvis Rick Griffin och Stanley “Mouse” Miller och kom att etablera en stil som var högst vital även in i följande decennium.
