Frame of wood adorned with glass beads, loosely fitted glass top, approx. 167x94x91 cm
This extraordinary table was Adama Kone's project during the Covid lockdown in 2020, an exceptionally gifted craftsman from Ivory Coast. Adama embellished the structural wooden elements of the table with glass beads. The table is made by the nomadic Tuareg tribe in the Sahara. This table is just one of two Adama tables that were adorned with glass beads before he passed away three years ago.

Adama was born in the town of Zuenoula in Ivory Coast in 1970. His father, Brahima Kone, was a highly respected master carver who is considered the first to produce high-quality guru masks for the international market rather than solely for local ceremonial use. Adama is the fourth of five sons, but he inherited his father's extraordinary talent as a master craftsman with wood and has established himself as a true authority on the restoration of objects in Cape Town's African art community.
