Carved from wood, partially clad in copper, on a pedestal, the width of the sculpture is approximately 26.5 cm, height including pedestal approximately 80 cm, height excluding pedestal approximately 74 cm. A Mbulu ngulu reliquary figure carved in wood and overlaid with textured copper. This figure is made by the Bakota people (or Kota people), a Bantu ethnic group from Gabon and Congo. The Bakota people are known for these reliquary figures, which were part of a powerful mystical order known as Bwete.
