Scandinavian Modern

Bukowskis presents an exclusive selection of furniture and applied arts, focusing on Scandinavian design from the 1930s to the 1960s. Danish, Swedish, and Finnish design have inspired people around the world and shaped the interiors of our homes for almost a century. Building on early modernism and functionalism, the Nordic countries’ applied arts flourished at the international exhibitions in Paris in 1937 and New York in 1939. Scandinavian Modern became a phenomenon with global impact, characterised by light woods, organic forms, and harmonious colour schemes. Innovative design, combined with skilled craftsmanship, produced timeless classics where form and function are united without compromising comfort or beauty.

Themed auction presents a curated selection of iconic furniture design by, among others, Axel Einar Hjorth, Josef Frank, Uno Åhrén, Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen, Hans J Wegner, and Poul Kjaerholm. Timeless carpets designed by Märta Måås Fjetterström, Ingegerd Silow, and others. The collection also includes a selection of lamps by Harald Notini and Hans Bergström.
