During his long career spanning several decades, Timo Sarpaneva created an exceptionally wide-ranging body of work, encompassing glass, steel, cast iron, textiles, porcelain, and architectural hardware, among other materials. He was an open-minded and bold experimenter who, together with his collaborators, developed new technical solutions and applications. These explorations gave rise to a new design language and innovative production methods that significantly influenced the development of Finnish design. They also resulted in several patented inventions within the textile and glass industries.
Sarpaneva’s work combines artistic expression with a deep understanding of materials, making his oeuvre both timeless and continuously relevant.
