Cigar box silver 950/1000, with engraved Paulownia symbol and Foreign Minister Sonoda's signature, lined inside with black lacquered wood, on the inside of the lid a plaque with farewell to the ambassador dated Tokyo October 1973. Length approx. 18.5 cm, depth 10 cm, height 4 cm.
Holder for matchbox, 6x4 cm, height 4 cm.
The ashtray in sterling silver with bamboo decoration 9x9 cm.

From the collection of Ambassador Osmo Lares (1926-2025)
Osmo Lares was a distinguished Finnish diplomat who devoted his career to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His early postings took him to Prague (1956–1959), Cologne (1960–1964), and Paris (1966–1969). He subsequently served as Ambassador to Tokyo – with side accreditation to Seoul – from 1972 to 1978, followed by appointments to Canberra (1983–1987), The Hague (1987–1989), and Dublin (1989–1991).
